Babatunji Wusu –
Two infamous and sought Boko Haram commanders from the Bakoura Buduma group have turned themselves in to the international joint task force’s soldiers.
Lt. Col. Abdulkahi Abubakar, the MNJTF spokesman, stated that Ibrahim Muhammad and Auwal Muhammad, also known as “Wanka,” turned themselves in to the soldiers of Sector 3 MNJTF (Nigeria) on March 25, 2024.
The enhanced kinetic and non-kinetic operations targeting terrorist organizations inside Sector 3 MNJTF are credited with this breakthrough.
The two people, who were commanders in the Lake Chad Islands at the time and were under increasing pressure from the military to surrender, made this decision.
“Ibrahim and Auwal Muhammad revealed their long-standing affiliation with the faction during the preliminary investigation, revealing that they had operated under the Bakoura Buduma-led faction in Kwallaram, located in the Lake Chad Islands, for 15 years.”
The fact that different objects were found on the terrorists who were surrendering emphasizes how important this incident is.
“Among these items are one AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 rifle magazines, ninety-nine 7.62mm special rounds, one magazine carrier, and one of Ibrahim Mohammed’s mobile phones.”
While Auwal Mohammed Wanka possessed an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, 101 7.62mm special bullets, a mobile phone, a magazine carrier, two hand grenades, and a handheld radio.
“The fighters who turned themselves in are being held for additional investigation.”
