Richard Beyioku, ND 2 Mass Communication, and Dotun Oyewole, HND 2 Local Government Development Studies, both students at The Polytechnic of Ibadan, have been given indefinite suspensions and expulsion, respectively, for allegedly kidnapping an HND 1 Public Administration student and assaulting a security guard at the school.

According to a statement made yesterday by the institution’s registrar, Mrs. Modupe Theresa Fawale, Oyewole was expelled after the Students’ Disciplinary Committee of the Institution met to discuss his case on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

She said that the co-suspect, Beyioku, was suspended indefinitely after failing to appear before the institution’s Disciplinary Committee.

She continued by saying that Olubiro Basit Ajibola, a student in ND 2 Estate Management and Evaluation who was purported to have been involved in an armed robbery case, also neglected to show up before the institution’s Disciplinary Committee and was subsequently suspended indefinitely.

“The Disciplinary Committee of the Institution also took a decision on one Odeleye Victor A., an ND 2 graduate of the Institution whose unusual movement is reportedly causing discomfort and a security breach within The Polytechnic community,” she said.

It was decided that in order to stop him from infiltrating the Polytechnic community, he should not be given entrance for the Higher National Diploma (HND) under any pretense.

The Registrar then asked parents and guardians of children attending The Polytechnic, Ibadan to take the time to watch over their children’s behavior since the institution would not think twice about taking harsh action against any student whose behavior would damage the school’s reputation.

Additionally, she urged all university students to uphold the law and report any suspected illegal activity by both students and non-students that they may be aware of.

The institution will collaborate with law enforcement agencies to prevent crimes on campus and to safeguard law-abiding students, employees, and the broader Polytechnic community, according to the statement.
