Two women were given five years in prison by a federal high court in Calabar, Cross River State, for selling a one-year-old boy.

The suspects were detained on April 18, 2023, by agents of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP). They were identified as Uduak Uwem Sunday, 22, and Blessing Etim Asuquo, 18.

According to The Guardian, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu sentenced the offenders to five years in prison and a N2 million fine for their separate crimes.

Christian Samuel was stolen and sold to a customer for N150.000 at the Technical Roundabout on the Murtala Muhammed Highway in Calabar, according to a source from the agency who wished to remain anonymous.”Christian Samuel, a baby boy, is the kid.

The suspects declined to reveal who they s%ld the infant to or where they took it.
