In opposition to rumors, former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Saturday supported Sheriff Oborevwori’s candidacy as well as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s bids for the presidency and vice presidency, respectively.
Additionally, Chief Ighoyota Amori, a PDP senatorial candidate for Delta Central, has pledged that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will have the support of former governor James Ibori in the 2023 general election.
Some people have speculated that former governors James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan won’t support Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori’s campaign.
However, Uduaghan, who interrupted a Delta South PDP campaign event in Warri, urged the crowd to band together to support Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the PDP’s candidate for governor of the State, as well as other party candidates.
“This is a significant reconciliation event to bring our party together before the general elections,” he remarked. PDP created us. We will make every effort to support the party in any way we can.
“Power belongs to God, so I urge everyone to use caution. Even if our party may have problems, we shouldn’t commit suicide.
He expressed support for the Atiku/Okowa and Sheriff/Onyeme tickets as well as those of the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly of the PDP and urged everyone to do the same when asked about the likelihood that the PDP would win the general elections. He claimed that only God could have made Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa emerge as the vice presidential candidate.
Hear him out: “We must praise God that our party has chosen a vice presidential candidate from our state. We can do nothing other than help him and Atiku succeed. He must wait in line behind us as we bring our celebration to every level.
“I think that delivering our own candidates will be more advantageous than delivering those of other parties. I want to make the case that we should put our differences aside and focus on what will help us win in 2023.
Uduaghan applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Chief Government Ekpemupolo to the Pipeline Surveillance Contract and urged him to appoint a substantive board for the NDDC.
Amori similarly stated: “I want to assure all Deltans that our leader, Chief James Onanefe Ibori is supporting Oborevwori to emerge as Governor when the State PDP train stormed Egbo/Samagidi (Ward 10) and continued to Kokori, Isiokolo, Orhoakpo, and Okpara Inland wards in Ethiope East Local Government Area.
“We can tell you because we are his soldiers. All of us, including the Speaker, were brought into the government by him, and he enjoys supporting each and every one of us. He cannot and does not consider any other choice because the PDP is his party.
Speaking to the populace in Kokori and other wards, Oborevwori asserted that the Okowa administration had greatly benefited Ethiopian East communities in terms of roads and other physical and social infrastructure, empowerment, and appointments, and promised that if elected, he would do even more for the populace.
Oborevwori stated: “We can be certain that 30% of the burden of development will be listed off the State with the PDP at the Federal and State levels. We shall have more persons at the center to entice development to the State with Okowa as Vice President. Okowa is a wise man who will provide Atiku a lot of support in order for him to succeed.
“You can be guaranteed of additional development projects as well as empowerment for employment and wealth creation when you vote for me as governor as well.
I implore you to support Arthur Akpowhowo for the House of Assembly, Chief Ighoyota Amori for the Senate, and Erhiatake Ibori for the House of Representatives.
