The International School Ibadan was on Monday shut down indefinitely over the lingering crisis of some female Muslim students wearing of hijab in the school.

A statement signed by the management and posted on the main gate of the University of Ibadan-owned school disclosed that the institution has been shut down until further notice.

It advised parents and guardians to take note of the new development.

The statement read “Notice: The International School, University of Ibadan has been closed down until further notice. Please, take note.”

The crisis rocking the school started last week when some female Muslim pupils were seen wearing Hijab to the school.

A parental-guardian group in the school, The Muslim Parents Forum, had earlier petitioned the management of the school, stating that female students were entitled to the use of hijab.

But the school in its response said it will continue to maintain the dress code of the 55-year-old institution.
