Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo state, has insisted that true federalism is still one of the solid foundations upon which a prosperous country can be built. He has also promised that if elected, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will usher in a new era of governance and ensure that true federalism flourishes.
True federalism is important in a diverse country like Nigeria, according to Akeredolu, who made this statement on Sunday evening while speaking on the topic of “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Business of Nation Building” during a Twitter Space session. He also added that it will properly address the fundamentals of nationhood.
“If elected into administration, Nigerians would see that we have someone in charge who had gone through democratic tutelage,” Akeredolu assured that the APC candidate understands the severe challenges impacting the country’s well-being. He served as governor. He oversaw a group.
“Asiwaju is well-versed on the issues facing this country. He has participated in the fight to establish democracy and establish a functioning federal government in the nation.
The Governor noted that Tinubu was one of NADECO’s original founders and took part in the fight for the fourth Republic’s restoration of civil democratic government.
The contributions Tinubu made to the NADECO struggle, he noted, “cannot be questioned. As you all aware, MKO Abiola was declared the winner of the 1993 presidential election. However, the military coup called off the vote and installed a provisional administration.
“Asiwaju Tinubu and a select group of others thought they couldn’t take it. They created the NADECO and engaged in military conflict. On June 12, they were still. Then, the entire nation agreed that the next President had to be a native of the Southwest. Due to this, only Chief Olu Falae and former President Olusegun Obasanjo stood for office in 1999.
“You cannot dismiss Asiwaju’s significance. He established the Radio-Kudirat and fled the county. Those were the battles we had to

The governor of Ondo state stated that Afenifere is not speaking on behalf of the Yoruba people in response to Afenifere’s endorsement of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Akeredolu emphasized that the group’s opinions do not reflect those of the Yoruba people and pointed out that Afenifere is divided about the alleged endorsement.
Despite the pervasiveness of political prostitution in the nation, Akeredolu claimed Tinubu has consistently stayed progressive.
“Politics often involves prostitution. Respect must be shown for those who remain in their parties and stand by their convictions. It is unusual.
“We have observed instances where governors switched from one party to another. It is integrity for me. Asiwaju has behaved honorably. We have learned from Asiwaju’s brand of politics that political prostitution is pointless,” he emphasized.
When he served as governor of Lagos State, Tinubu, according to Akeredolu, made an attempt to develop the region. He also managed to turn Lagos State into a nation unto itself.
He pointed out that by appointing individuals from various ethnic backgrounds throughout the nation to his cabinet, the APC presidential candidate created national harmony.
“Asiwaju succeeded in turning Lagos into a nation within a nation. As you are aware, Asiwaju served as a public official in Lagos for eight years. You’ll discover that because of Lagos’ unique characteristics, members of his government came from almost every region of the nation.
“Asiwaju Tinubu gathered the smartest people for the job, and these individuals relocated from Lagos to become governors in their respective states. Aregbesola served as a commissioner there before rising to the position of governor of Osun State.
“Everyone has a role to perform. People who served as senators in Lagos are now running for office in their home states. Lagos can be thought of as a miniature of Nigeria. In Lagos, a Hausa guy can prosper. In Lagos, an Igbo man prospers.
“Aliko Dangote is successful because he runs his business and lives in Lagos. Other individuals flourish in Lagos. The entirety of Alaba is owned by our brothers from the East. In both the Lagos State Assembly and the National Assembly, they are represented. You must give Asiwaju credit for creating the conditions that allowed such activities to flourish in Lagos, Akeredolu stated.
The governor voiced faith in the APC presidential candidate’s ability to establish state police across the nation.
“I firmly believe that the Tinubu Presidency will give State Police a chance,” he declared. He is blessed. The establishment of state police is currently supported by all 36 governors of the United States. That ought to be the focal point of his campaign.
“Restructuring is necessary, and Asiwaju is a President who will lead such restructuring in conformity with the APC constitution. He is a leader I look forward to since he predicted the establishment of state police in 2023.
Governor Akeredolu gave his opinion on the Muslim/Muslim ticket, saying that skills and knowledge, not race or ethnicity, are what matter to the nation.
The Muslim/Muslim ticket is a topic of much discussion. And some of us have made an effort to educate our people. The problem cannot be with the ticket itself. Who will represent the nation is the major concern. You should bring up inclusivism as well as the ticket issue when discussing it. Should the North regain the presidency? No!
“And what do we have now? Only an Obi and Asiwaju remain. The two will then be weighed. About Asiwaju, some of us have chosen a course of action. The choice is made in light of what he has to offer.
“When combined, Tinubu weighs more, according to the scale. We assess his intelligence, experience, and the potential benefits of his presidency. Knowledge and capacity are distinct from religion and ethnicity. We have consistently chosen wisdom and ability.
“We made our points very clear. The President needs to visit the South. Now is the time for us to make a decision. We must consider our ability and expertise when choosing. And the balance is tipped in Asiwaju Tinubu’s favor,” he insisted.
The Governor added that Asiwaju Tinubu will encourage youth inclusion in his administration and that there would be ample opportunity for young Nigerians to participate in politics.
