    • Associate Professors: Engineering (4), Science (3), Education (2), Humanities (2), Agriculture (1), Social Sciences (1), Management Sciences (1), Health Sciences (1), Science Laboratory Technology (1).

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has promoted 30 senior academics to the rank of professor and 16 others to associate professor, following a rigorous evaluation process.

This announcement was made by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

According to Georgewill, the university’s Governing Council, chaired by Pro-Chancellor Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, approved the promotions during its 187th meeting.

A faculty-wise breakdown of the promotions reveals that the Faculty of Science had the highest number of new professors (7), followed by the Faculties of Social Sciences, Management Sciences, and Health Sciences (5 each).

In the Associate Professor category, the Faculty of Engineering led with four promotions, while the Faculties of Science, Education, and Humanities followed closely.

The university emphasized that the promotions reflect academic excellence and contributions to research, teaching, and service.
