The invasion and demolition of the popular Ketu fruit market known as Jakande market on Friday by the Lagos State Task Force was said to be sudden and sadden.

Our correspondence, who was at the market on Saturday reported that the demolition was only on a section of the market.

According to some men and women of the market, the operation was stopped after the leaders of the market had made several calls and visited some chieftains of the state.

Anonymous who was said to be an Executive member of the Market Association told our reporter that the association and the market at large is not in any war with the State Government, as the land belong to the state.

He said they believed that the Government has its developmental plan on the market which they are not against but then, the market men and women needed to be carried along.

Additionally, he said there should have been a prior notice of the demolition; that what happened on Friday has thrown many into heavy lost.

Unverified information also said that about 3 persons lost their lives while about 4 were injured by the gunshot of the policemen.
