The United States has delivered critical military supplies to Nigerian security agencies, reinforcing bilateral efforts to confront the country’s escalating security challenges.

The delivery was confirmed on Tuesday by United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in a post on X, stating that U.S. forces handed over the equipment to Nigerian partners in Abuja.

According to AFRICOM, the supplies are intended to strengthen Nigeria’s ongoing security operations and underscore the deepening security partnership between both countries.

Nigeria has in recent months recorded a surge in insecurity, with armed groups intensifying kidnappings and attacks across several regions, leaving hundreds of victims in their wake.

The latest delivery follows U.S. military action in support of counterterrorism efforts, including airstrikes launched by U.S. forces on terrorist enclaves in north-west Nigeria on Christmas Day.
