Tunji Wusu –

The selection and nomination of Mr. George Aluo as the new Chairman of the Nigeria National League (NNL) has been praised by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Over the weekend, Aluo was appointed as the organization’s chairman, with Khamisu Ahmed Mailantaki serving as his vice chairman.

Yakubu Sarma, Dani Mohammed, Donald Ikpe, Joseph Uzoma Ebowusi, Dotun Sanusi, and Emmanuel Attah (Chief Executive Officer) are among the other members.

According to a statement by Oguwike Nwachuku, Governor Uzodimma’s chief press secretary and media adviser, his principal welcomed Aluo’s appointment and described it as admirably appropriate and deserving.

Aluo is a senior sports journalist, and according to Governor Uzodimma, who has watched his career trajectory for years, he may make a significant contribution to the growth of football in the nation.

The governor added that it is crucial to keep in mind that Aluo, who hails from Imo State’s Ngor Okpalla Local Government Area, has joined the lengthy list of Imo individuals that the state has donated to Nigeria for purposes that promote national growth and togetherness.

He claimed to have no doubts at all that Aluo, who has demonstrated tenacity, diligence, and loyalty, will continue to represent Imo State well as he carries out his mandate to elevate Nigerian football to exceptional heights.

Additionally, Governor Uzodimma praised the Heartland Football Club of Owerri for representing Imo State honorably and winning the Nigeria National League match that was played in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.

When the footballers and their coaches rushed the Imo State Government House in Owerri to deliver the NNL Championship cup, he said this.

The team was welcomed by the Chief of Staff, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, who thanked them on behalf of the Governor for their outstanding performance at the event and earned them the title of overall champion.

The Chief of Staff reaffirmed that they prevailed in the contest because God’s mercy was sufficient for them, and that as a result, the entire Imo populace, who had fervently prayed for their success, was thrilled by their triumph.

He stressed that with Heartland FC’s success, the unwavering spirit and tenacious mentality of Imo people in particular and the Igbo in general has once more been revived.

He emphasized that Governor Uzodimma has demonstrated a strong commitment to youth development and sports in Imo State, as seen by, among other things, the extensive refurbishment of the Dan Anyiam Stadium and full sponsorship of the Heartland FC.

He took the chance to urge young people to turn to sports for survival, development, and growth instead of crime and criminality since “crime does not pay.”

“Successes in sports are rewarding, and the gains can be reinvested.”

When the players and their technical team meet with the Governor as quickly as possible, Anyaehie personally praised them and assured them that a higher reward is in store for them.

The State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Emeka Okorokwo, presented the NNL Champions to the Governor and said that “the team was committed to the victory by exhibiting gallantry and consistency.”

Okoronkwo thanked the governor for giving the players the fatherly support that allowed them to succeed.
