The disturbing incident unfolded on Saturday night when both content creators, in what appeared to be a staged stunt, violently damaged their vehicles in full view of their online audience. Viewers watched in disbelief as the streamers shattered windscreens, an act many described as reckless, dangerous and a deliberate promotion of toxic content for engagement.

The backlash was swift and unforgiving. Social media users accused the duo of glorifying violence and setting a harmful example for young followers.

Boniface, who plays professionally in Europe and remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent football exports, did not stay silent. During his own livestream, the striker placed a direct call to Carterefe and openly rebuked him.

“What you and Peller did is rubbish. You are currently on livestream, I want to talk to you privately. Let me know when you are done streaming,” Boniface said firmly over the phone.

Sources monitoring the exchange observed that Carterefe appeared visibly remorseful after the football star’s intervention, offering a subdued response while still on air.

Despite that reaction, criticism continues to mount. Online commentators have warned that such violent stunts could easily spiral out of control and result in serious injury or death. Several users referenced previous international incidents where social media challenges and staged violence ended tragically.

The controversy has reignited debates about content regulation, influencer responsibility, and the growing culture of shock-driven livestream entertainment in Nigeria’s digital space.
