Victor Moses, the former Nigeria international, has made an unexpected return to English football by joining recently relegated Premier League club Luton Town. The 33-year-old winger, who became a free agent after leaving Spartak Moscow this summer, has signed a deal with Luton Town, much to the excitement of both fans and club officials.
Moses, who enjoyed a notable stint with Chelsea from 2012 to 2021, initially joined Luton on a trial basis. He impressed the coaching staff during training sessions and a behind-closed-doors match, which led Luton’s manager, Rob Edwards, to offer him a contract.
Edwards expressed his enthusiasm about Moses’ signing, stating, “Victor is someone we’ve been in talks with for a while. He trained with us last week and played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game, which convinced us he can come in and make a difference. He adds depth and versatility to our squad, as he can play on either side or as a number ten. He’s tactically astute and will provide valuable competition.”
Despite the positive outlook, Edwards stressed the need for Moses to adapt to the team’s strategies and playing style. “I don’t want to place too much pressure on him or expect too much too soon. He won’t be starting games immediately. He needs time to acclimate to our system, but he’s fit and ready to contribute, and his presence definitely strengthens the squad,” Edwards added.
Moses brings a wealth of experience to Luton Town, having been a key player in Chelsea’s Premier League-winning campaign in 2017 and contributing to Inter Milan’s Serie A title in the 2019-20 season under Antonio Conte. With experience across various leagues, including Turkey and Russia, and 38 caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Moses is well-positioned to make a significant impact in English football once again.
