– Managed late rapper’s multimillion-dollar estate
– Passed away of natural causes in Pennsylvania
– Death follows her recent remarks on Diddy’s legal troubles
Voletta Wallace, mother of the late legendary rapper The Notorious B.I.G., has died at the age of 78. She passed away Friday morning in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, from natural causes, according to the Monroe County Coroner.
Wallace was widely recognized for managing her son’s estate, which grew from an estimated $10 million at the time of his tragic 1997 murder to a staggering $160 million. Biggie Smalls, born Christopher Wallace, was a dominant figure in hip-hop before he was fatally shot in a drive-by at just 24.
Her passing comes months after she made headlines with her controversial remarks about Sean “Diddy” Combs, who remains in jail facing multiple charges, including rape. Biggie was the first artist signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records in 1993, a move that propelled him to stardom.
