On Sunday, Vice President Kashim Shettima paid a visit to Lateef Olufemi Okunnu, a renowned statesman and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), at his home in Lagos.

Shettima stated that Okunnu had performed several roles for the nation, such as Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing and head of the federal government delegation to numerous foreign conferences.

Upon visiting the nonagenarian’s library, the vice president reported that the aging statesman had been named pro-chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 1982.

Shettima published the following statement on Monday using his official X handle: “The Vice President, Sen.@KashimSM GCON, visited elder statesman Lateef Olufemi Okunnu SAN CON at his Lagos residence yesterday.”

In addition to serving as the Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing from 1967 to 1974, the nonagenarian also led the Federal Government delegation to the Organization of African Unity Consultative Committee on Nigeria Peace Talks to end the Civil War in 1968 and 1969. In 1969, he was named Leader of the Nigerian Delegation to the O.A.U. Ministerial Conference. Member of the Nigerian Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in 1980; in 1982, he was named pro-chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
