Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana, Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament, and Hon. Idris Wase, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, have vowed to improve parliamentary ties for the benefit of the West African area.
Hon. Wase noted that Ghana and Nigeria share many similarities when he met the Ghanian Speaker in the National Assembly complex in Abuja and promised to increase cooperation between the two Parliaments.
He commended the ECOWAS Parliament for making sure that there is free flow of products and services and expressed hope that with close cooperation between the two nations, much could be accomplished.
The Deputy Speaker urged for the formation of parliamentary friendship clubs so that lawmakers may engage, educate one another, and foster understanding between the two parliaments as she welcomed the Ghanaian Speaker on the speaker’s behalf.
The Ghanaian Speaker had earlier stated that they were in Nigeria to meet with the leadership of the National Assembly Service Commission and to exchange information on their operational and managerial expertise.
The chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission and his Commissioners were appreciated for agreeing to share their expertise. He also expressed gratitude to the National Assembly’s top leadership.
The clerk of the Ghanaian National Assembly and some senior parliamentary staff members were in attendance with the Ghanaian Speaker.
The contributions of the most recent Resident Electoral Commissioner in Akwa Ibom State will receive adequate room whenever the history of elections in Nigeria, particularly in the Fourth Republic, is written.
