Socio-political group of youths in Iseyin, Oyo State have declared that the people of Iseyin, especially majority of youths in the town would not vote for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) due to the failure of the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi to reconstruct all roads leading to the township and Oke Ogun area in general.

Statement signed by Busari Oluwatoyin, the Coordinator and Ayo Omokunmi, the Secretary of the group which was made available to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital, the group mentioned that the location of Technical University of Oyo State which later became The Technical University, Ibadan (Tech U) in Ibadan supposed to be sited in the town according to earlier promise by the governor during his first and second term campaigns.

Coordinator of the group, Comrade Busari Oluwatoyin said the decision to vote against the ruling party was agreed upon by many youths and elders in the town and across Oke Ogun as the outgoing administration had expended the goodwill it enjoyed from the people due to what he called an intentional neglect of a whole region of the State that served as its food basket.

“We will be vindicated by next Saturday when the ruling party that has always won elections in our township fails to get the expected support from our people at the point they would need us most. If you travel from Oyo town to Iseyin, Moniya to Iseyin or Abeokuta to Iseyin, you will see that all these roads that lead to Oke Ogun regions are all in the state of collapse. People just take the risk to ply the roads daily because they have no alternative.

“We don’t expect an administration that enjoyed so much support of votes from our people in the last two terms of the incumbent government to not have done something about these roads. They think the Presidential and national assembly election would dictate where our people will go next Friday? That is a big self-deceit.

“Imagine somebody that promised to give Iseyin a higher institution of learning during his campaign in 2011 but failed to do it. He came back in 2015 to use the same gimmick and today, the Technical University he promised us is at Ibadan. We are not fools. We have had enough.

We youths and our elders have decided that no matter the money inducement and coercion by the present administration, we will vote against the ruling party.”

Comrade Busari also called on the people of Oke Ogun in general to follow the same line of action took by the organization so that the region could be free from what he called ‘political slavery’ which he said had led to continuous denigration of the region by successive administrations in the State.
