Shehu Sani, a former senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, expressed his expectation that the refinery in Kaduna will soon begin operations following the opening of the Port Harcourt Refinery on Thursday, December 21.

All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman Sani made this statement soon after it was announced that the Port Harcourt refinery company, which has a total capacity of 210,000 barrels per stream day, has started operations.

The two-term senator addressed the development, but reaffirmed that the National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) started the refinery on schedule in December.

Sani posted the following on his verified X account: “It is commendable that the Port Harcourt Refinery has started operations.”

“The NNPCL has adhered to its commitment to reach the deadline in December. Bravo to the management, the FG, and the GCEO.

“We are hoping that the Kaduna refinery, which has been idle for more than ten years, will reopen soon.”
