The Lagos State Government reports that Chrisland School, some staff members, and a vendor have been charged with involuntary manslaughter as well as reckless and negligent acts in the death of Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old student.

Remember that on February 9, Adeniran collapsed during the inter-house game at her school, and an autopsy later determined that she had died from both asphyxia and electrocution.

In a statement released on Friday, March 24, the Director of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Ministry of Justice stated: “On February 9, 2023, Whitney Omodesola Adeniran, a 12-year-old student at Chrisland High School in Ikeja, slumped during the Inter-house Sports organized by the school at the Agege Sports Stadium. She was then taken to Agege Central Hospital in Agege, Lagos, where the attending physician confirmed she had been “brought in dead” (BID).
