Umar Ganduje’s Special Adviser, Anas Abba Dala, has clarified why he took legal action against Dahiru Muktar, a Radio Nigeria Kano staff member. Muktar, a continuity announcer at Pyramid FM, was detained by a Kano Magistrate Court 2 for allegedly plotting against Dala, defaming him, and insulting him. These charges are based on sections 97, 391, and 115 of the penal code.

Dala explained that his decision to sue Muktar was due to insults he received from the journalist. He claimed that Muktar used social media to accuse him of adultery, leaving his mother to sell goods on the streets, being illiterate, and even not knowing the first chapter of the Quran (Al-Fatiha). Additionally, Dala said Muktar spread false claims about him fathering a child with a woman from Niger State and posted a manipulated image of them together. He also alleged that Muktar used a voice recording to falsely accuse him of insulting Vice President Kashim Shettima. Dala has evidence, including videos, to support these claims.

Dala emphasized that he did not initially involve the police. Instead, he filed a case directly with the Magistrate Court, which then directed the Zone One Police Command to investigate. Muktar was arrested after attempting to flee. The case was brought to court, where Muktar faced charges of insult, conspiracy, and defamation. His lawyer, Jafar Sani Bello, argued for bail and claimed to be financially supporting Muktar.

Dala clarified that his legal action was personal and not related to any government position.
