Former Edo State information commissioner Prince Kassim Afegbua has criticized former House of Representatives speaker Yakubu Dogara for supporting PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s bid for the presidency.
Recall how Dogara and certain northern Christians, such as Simon Achuba and Idris Wada, recently endorsed the PDP presidential candidate.
Afegbua responded in a statement on Sunday, questioning Dogara and his group’s refusal to support Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), given that they were not happy with the Muslim-Muslim ticket put forth by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former commissioner for information in Edo State, chastised Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, for endorsing Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination.
Recall that Dogara recently endorsed the PDP presidential candidate, along with notable northern Christians like Simon Achuba, Idris Wada, and others.
“I’m still confused about how religion should influence political conversation. Idris Wada, get out of there before they break a coconut with your head.
I began looking for the names of the members who want to play God in Asiwaju Tinubu’s political aspirations when I read the substance of the statement released by Yakubu Dogara and his ilk. It is known that Dogara wished to run beside someone. No problems there. Should paradise now crumble because another candidate was chosen? Do people consider Atiku Abubakar to be a Christian? Why do we enjoy so much propagating complete contradiction merely to benefit ourselves financially? By 2023, I’m willing to wager that APC will defeat Dogara in his ward. And I’m confident that APC will defeat PDP in Bauchi State as well. Mohammed Kumaila, my friend, was also mentioned. I simply chuckled.
People who aren’t quite sure where they belong and are constantly searching for meaning.
If you disagree with the APC’s choice, why not support Obi, a Christian, rather than Atiku, a Muslim, for president? This demonstrates that stomach infrastructure is the only factor at play. Being a PDP member, Muktar Shagari’s announcement that he has endorsed Atiku strikes me as a piece of broken music. Achuba is desperately in need of a paycheck. How absurd that they believe Atiku Abubakar will let them inside his vault.
“A Christian who genuinely believes in justice and equity should recognize instinctively that there is a need to balance all of the power patterns in a nation with multiple pluralities.
Naturally, the South should be in the driver’s seat after Buhari’s presidency of the North. However, for questionable reasons, no benevolent person would agree to the North’s continued political dominance after Buhari’s eight years in office. They have been pressuring the president to back Atiku, and while I am aware of this, their plan will backfire miserably.
When it comes to dealing with religious matters, a man who has served as speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives should naturally be gracious and not come off as desperately trying to end the symbiotic relationship. Politics should be left to the politicians, and religion to the practitioners.
The two are incompatible. There is nothing driving Yakubu Dogara to accept this challenge of his anti-party rhetoric other than a desire to be relevant.
