Former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he commissioned the construction of a mansion for his predecessor, Peter Odili, during his tenure as governor.

Wike made this statement on Sunday at a Special Thanksgiving Service in Port Harcourt, hosted by Rivers State Assembly Speaker, Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule. He was responding to Odili’s recent allegation that Wike sought to control the state as his personal property.

The FCT Minister recounted personally engaging Julius Berger to build the mansion and described how Odili initially praised the gesture, showcasing it to visitors. Wike expressed disappointment over their now-strained relationship, highlighting Odili’s remarks supporting current Governor Siminalayi Fubara, which he considered premature.

Wike criticized Odili for suggesting that Fubara had surpassed the achievements of previous governors, questioning the elder statesman’s judgment. He also revealed that pictures of him, once prominently displayed in Odili’s home, had been removed.
