The 14,000 political advisers that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike appointed, according to the sociopolitical organization One-on-One-Network, were chosen to incite political unrest in the state before the 2023 general elections.
Along with the 14, 000 advisers for the state’s various political units, Wike also nominated 319 ward liaison officers and 40 council members on Tuesday.
LoveGod Nweze, the organisation’s director general, made the following allegations in a statement released by the group yesterday in Port Harcourt: “Governor Wike by the appointment is weaponizing political violence ahead of the 2023 general elections by enlisting known thugs and cultists as advisers.”
Meanwhile, yesterday, Wike gave the go-ahead for N1 billion in emergency relief funds to help flood victims in the state’s Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni councils.
The governor, who sympathized with the flood victims, also established a task force to plan the distribution of aid supplies to the State’s impacted communities.
As the most affected districts, Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni councils, Wike said the sum given by the state government will help vulnerable families.
The task force’s chairman will be Dr. George Nwaeke, the Permanent Secretary of the Special Services Bureau (SSB) in the Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government; the secretary will be Mrs. Inime Aguma, according to the governor.
Along with Chukwuemeka Onowu and the Director of Administration in the Ministry of Special Duties, the task team also includes Hope Ikiriko, the Chairman of Ahoada West Council, Vincent Job, the Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Council, and Hope Ikiriko.
