-Former Tinubu Aide Slams Wike for Political Double-Dealing
–Says FCT Minister Is Wrecking Both PDP and APC With Presidential Backing
Former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Tinubu, Aliyu Audu, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of simultaneously wrecking both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Audu, who recently resigned from his position, made the claims during an interview on Arise News on Thursday, where he described Wike as a major destabilizing force in Nigerian politics.
“Wike is destroying the PDP with the support of the president, because the office of the Minister of the FCT is a state power that can be used to back the president,” Audu stated.
According to him, Wike remains a member of the PDP, yet controls the APC political machinery in Rivers State and in the FCT — with full support from President Tinubu.
Audu expressed concern that the current administration is comfortable with ignoring obvious political contradictions instead of addressing them directly.
“We have the energy to solve the problem, but rather expend that energy in avoiding the consequences of solving it,” he said.
“We want to build, but something is in our way. We could go through it, but we choose to sidestep it — and that thing will keep haunting us.”
Audu revealed that as a member of the APC in the FCT who once contested for a local government chairmanship ticket in 2015, he is deeply troubled by the current political situation.
“Wike, who is in PDP, is using a non-political office — the FCT Ministry — to destroy both the opposition and the ruling party.
“Let’s remind ourselves that President Tinubu’s rise to power was made possible by the existence of a strong opposition. You can’t destroy opposition just because you dislike rivalry.”
He warned against the danger of political monopoly, arguing that it contradicts the very idea of a liberalized economy which the President and his supporters claim to uphold.
“You can’t sell me a liberalized economy and then monopolize politics. It doesn’t work. Economy is a subset of politics.”
