-Atiku Only Pays for Loyalty – Wike’s Aide Blasts Dele Momodu
–Says PDP Chieftain Will Dump Atiku Once Funding Stops
Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has launched a scathing attack on veteran journalist and PDP chieftain, Dele Momodu, accusing him of political opportunism and loyalty for hire.
Olayinka alleged that Momodu’s support for Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate, is tied strictly to financial benefits. According to him, once Atiku withdraws his funding, Momodu will immediately “move to the next victim.”
“We are hearing all this noise from him because Atiku is paying his bills. Let Atiku stop paying, Oga Dele Momodu will move to the next victim,” Olayinka declared in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Momodu had earlier appeared on Arise Television, where he claimed that a strong Northern candidate could challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027. He also dismissed the chances of Atiku defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and claimed that Atiku wanted the PDP to zone the presidency to the Southeast in 2023.
But Olayinka dismissed Momodu’s assertions as “mischievous lies,” questioning how Atiku could have supported zoning to the Southeast while purchasing the party’s Expression of Interest Form before the PDP had decided on zoning.
“Only someone like Dele Momodu, who does not have knowledge of anything apart from his stomach, would claim it was Wike who drove Peter Obi out of PDP,” Olayinka fired.
He further debunked the narrative that Wike was responsible for the mass defection of key Atiku allies, listing names such as Senator Gbenga Daniel, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Udom Emmanuel, all of whom distanced themselves from Atiku after elections.
“Why did everyone who worked closely with Atiku during the 2019 and 2023 elections leave him after the polls? The answer is simple — someone is selfish and all about himself,” Olayinka stated.
He also took a personal swipe at Momodu, accusing him of denying his roots, unlike Wike, whom he described as “a proud Ikwerre man.”
Olayinka reiterated his position that Atiku has long been a divisive figure in the PDP, accusing him of sabotaging the party’s efforts since 2003, including its bid to win Lagos State.
