-Club celebrates return to topflight with dinner in Bauchi
-Players to resume July 26 ahead of fresh campaign
Wikki Tourists Football Club have begun a 10-day break after securing promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), following a successful campaign in the lower division.
The break, which commenced on Wednesday, July 16, will run until Friday, July 25, 2025. The announcement was made by the club’s management during a celebratory dinner held in Bauchi, with players, coaching staff, and major stakeholders present.
The Bauchi-based side, fondly known as the Bauchi Elephants, said the break is a strategic move to allow players to rest, recover, and recharge ahead of the fresh challenges in the top tier.
“The team has achieved its main goal — a well-deserved return to the NPFL,” the management stated during the dinner event.
“This short break is to help the players recover after a demanding season and come back stronger for the challenges ahead.”
Wikki Tourists were relegated from the NPFL in 2023 but staged a determined return this season, finishing top of their group in the Nigeria National League (NNL). With this promotion, the club joins other elite teams to compete in the 2025/2026 NPFL season.
The players are expected to return to camp on Saturday, July 26, when pre-season preparations will begin in earnest.
