Messi currently has 92 goals for his country, while Ronaldo of Portugal continues to lead with 117 goals in 191 games. Currently, Messi and Ronaldo each have 7 goals in the World Cup.
Additionally, Messi becomes the first Argentinean player to score in four different competitions (2006, 2014, 2018 and 2022).
With 84 goals, Indian captain Sunil Chhetri is tied for seventh place with legendary Hungarian forward Ferenc Puskas. On the list of current international football goal scorers, Chhetri ranks third.
