One of the suspects in the murder of Timothy Adegoke on Thursday described how Roheem Adedoyin, the managing director of Hilton Hotels and Resorts, reportedly gave the order for the body of the master’s student from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, to be placed in a bush along Ede Road.
Oyetunde Kazeem testified that Mr. Adedoyin instructed him and another hotel employee to carry the corpse from the hotel room to his Hilux automobile during a hearing at the Osun State High Court in Osogbo.
Rahmon Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotels, is the father of the hotel managing director who is on the run.
During his cross-examination by Femi Falana, SAN, Mr. Kazeem asserted that he followed the managing director’s instructions because he had informed them that they would be taking the corpse to the morgue.
However, the suspect said that as they were en route to the mortuary, the hotel managing director stopped the car next to a bush and gave them instructions to dispose of the body.
The witness added, “I joined him in the car because he indicated he had reported the case to the police.
He stated, “I believed we were going to the mortuary when our M.D. arrived to the hotel on that day and said the case had been reported to the police and the officers in charge had directed him to evacuate the corpse to the mortuary.
He came to a stop next to a bush and ordered us to descend and carry the body inside. Inside the bush, he abandoned the body.
Mr. Kazeem added that the deceased student’s possessions were also placed in the jungle alongside his body.
“We removed the body from the motel in threes. While we were traveling to the bush, MD brought the deceased student’s belongings with her. They were placed into the deceased’s blue bag. The suspect said, “He dumped everything alongside his corpse within the bush, including the last bit of water the deceased’s pupil had consumed, his phone, and his laptop.
He added that once they had disposed of the body, the hotel managing director picked him and the other person up and drove them back to the hotel.
“On that day, I was in the car with them. The last time I saw the car was when our MD drove us back to the hotel after we had disposed of the man’s body and his possessions.
“We led the police to the jungle after they had detained us, but we were unable to see the corpse and the things we had kept next to him.”
Rahman Adedoyin, the witness who will testify in support of the first defendant, was ordered to come before the court, thus Justice Adepele Ojo delayed the case to Friday, December 16.
Osun State’s Chief Judge, Justice Ojo, instructed the attorneys in the case to make sure their witnesses showed up in court on Friday.
