After being charged by the Football Association (FA) for spitting at Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forest during Saturday’s 1-1 draw, Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Daniel Podence has denied doing so.

In the last seconds of the game, Johnson claimed that Podence, who had scored the equalizer for Wolves, had spit at him. The incident was investigated by VAR at the time, but the 27-year-old received no punishment; nonetheless, the Portuguese player was charged on Wednesday.

Podence posted on Instagram on Thursday, “Since I have been accused of something I haven’t done… shall make it clear: I did not spit on Nottingham’s player.” “I’m being honest, and I would never do such a thing, especially to a coworker,” the speaker said.

If guilty, Podence could be suspended for six games.
