Mama Dada, a middle-aged woman who committed suicide in Ogun State due to her inability to pay back a N70,000 loan she obtained from a microfinance bank, put an end to everything.

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the woman allegedly lit herself on fire in her rented apartment in Abeokuta’s Oke-Keesi, Itoko neighborhood.

According to a local witness, the woman killed herself because she couldn’t pay back a bank debt she had obtained.
She said, “I was told she got the loan amounting to N70,000.”

 

The deceased’s debt to the bank was confirmed by CDA secretary Ade Babawale.

She is owing the “Gbomu le lantern” the sum of N70,000 because she was unable to make the payment. As a result, she sent her last child to buy fuel and also use style to discharge the young boy. She then locked herself in the room, wet everything with gasoline, including herself, and set the entire place on fire.
