Babatunji Wusu –
Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello directed the state works ministry to start renovating the Ogori-Ageva road in the State Central Senatorial District right away on Monday.
The governor issued the directive while extending a warm welcome to certain PDP defectors, including Mr. Gabriel Daudu, the former chairman of the Ogori Magongo Local Government, at Lugard House in Lokoja.
Bello acknowledged that the road was in poor condition and that it required quick improvement to lessen the difficulties that locals faced while traveling.
He emphasized that electrifying Ogori Community was one of his major initiatives during his first term in office since he thought it would drastically change the socioeconomic circumstances of the residents.
Today, I feel quite satisfied and fulfilled since I was concerned about that even before I was elected governor of this state.
“I’m really appreciative of Ogori Magongo’s residents for their support of my government.
“I want to reassure the people of Ogori Mogongo that till the conclusion of my administration, my government will continue to work hard for your benefit.
“Ogori Magongo will remain a focal point of my attention even as I extend a warm welcome to those who have joined the APC,” he declared.
The governor also promised the defectors that they would have the same possibilities as the existing party members, and he anticipated their active involvement in Ododo’s campaign for victory in the November 11 governorship election.
However, Bello commended Mr. Goke Oparison, the head of the Ogori Magongo local government area, for his exceptional leadership, particularly in the area of security.
Daudu previously praised Gov. Bello for his outstanding leadership and the good governance the state had under his administration. Daudu had previously announced his decision to join the APC and support Ododo in the November 11 governorship election.
The governor was praised by Daudu, a former member of the Assembly, for his inclusive, equitable, and fair leadership.
In a separate speech, Mr. Emmanuel Olufade, the immediate past chairman of the PDP in the local government, claimed that the decision of opposition party members in Ogori to join the ruling APC in Kogi was motivated by their conviction that the populace would gain more by working together to support the APC governorship candidate in the upcoming November 11 election.
A “source of pride” for the residents of Ogori Mogongo, according to Olufade, is Gov. Bello’s leadership.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), notable leaders among the defectors included the former PDP LG Secretary Ogori/Magongo, Mr. David Shado, the local PDP Chieftain, David Black Olowu, the former PDP LG Legal Adviser, Sunday Akpata, the former PDP LG Financial Secretary, Taiye Owolabi Paul, and many others.
