Justice Maryann Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has postponed the arraignment of Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, and two others to November 14. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed fresh 16-count charges against Bello, prompting the court’s summons.

The prosecution, represented by Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), requested the adjournment, noting that the public summons issued against Bello needed more time for proper service. However, the defense counsel for the second and third defendants objected, insisting that their clients should not be delayed due to Bello’s absence. They requested their discharge or a plea if the prosecution was not prepared. The court agreed to the November 14 date for arraignment while the defendants remain in custody.
