The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reports that on Thursday, the Abuja Zonal Command succeeded in getting one Emmanuel Adeyi convicted of an internet fraud allegation before Justice I. Mohammed of the FCT High Court Gwagwalada-Abuja.
Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s spokesman, revealed this in a statement.

According to the single count charge, Emmanuel Adeyi committed the crime in Abuja some time in 2021 when he “pretended to be a white woman named Sally, a prostitute who resides in the United States of America through your Reddit application, and under the assumed character obtained the sum of $600 (Six Hundred United States Dollars) from your victims, committed the offence of cheating by personation.”

Section 324 of the Penal Code Law (Cap. 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria) provides for the punishment of the offense, which violates Section 321 of the same Law.

The defendant pleaded guilty after hearing the accusation read to him.
As a result, Adeyi was found guilty and given a three-month community service term along with a N30,000 fine by Justice Mohammed.

The convict’s iPhone 12 Pro Max was also ordered to be forfeited to the federal government by the judge.
