The Yobe State Government has inaugurated four state-of-the-art sesame seed processing factories, aiming to boost economic activities and create employment opportunities statewide.

Abdullahi Bego, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, announced this at a press briefing in Damaturu after a State Executive Council meeting led by Governor Mai Mala Buni.

According to Bego, the factories, strategically located in Machina, Nguru, Potiskum, and Damaturu local government areas, represent a pivotal step in the government’s mission to strengthen the agricultural value chain and drive socioeconomic progress. “These facilities will clean, process, and package sesame seeds to international standards while generating thousands of jobs for Yobe citizens,” he explained.

The Commissioner also provided updates on key infrastructure projects. He noted that the Potiskum Modern Market and the Ngalda and Yunusari markets are 90% complete, with the Geidam Modern Market reaching 75% completion.

Bego highlighted progress on the Potiskum Truck Transit Park project, revealing that 90% of the work is finished. “These initiatives demonstrate the government’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its promises. Despite earlier hurdles, we are on track to complete and commission these transformative projects within the year,” he added.
