National election petition tribunal in Oyo State has granted All Progressives Congress, APC, leave to serve the winner of the Senatorial election in Oyo South, Mr. Kola Balogun and his party, People Democratic Party, PDP, by substituted means, The Premier News gathered.
Ruling on an ex parte motion filed by the APC on behalf of its candidate, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Dennis Igyuse, granted the request of the petitioner to serve the first and second respondent by pasting the relevant documents on the notice board or conspicuous part of the Secretariat of PDP.
The Premier News recall that had earlier reported that Governor Abiola Ajimobi through its party, vowed to challenge the victory of the People Democratic Party, PDP’s Kola Balogun in the Oyo South senatorial district race.
The tribunal also granted same to Professor Adeniyi Olowofela of APC from Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency who is challenging the victory of Mr. Oluyemi Taiwo in the February 23 National Assembly election.
Reports that counsel to the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Kunle Sobaloju, said the party decided to challenge the victory of Mr. Kola Balogun due to some malpractices observed during the conduct of the election in the Oyo South Senatorial District.
Mr. Sobaloju expressed optimism that the party’s candidate would be declared winner of the election.
