On Friday, CP Hakeem Adeshina Yusuf, the new police commissioner for Kogi State, reported to work at Lokoja’s State Police Command headquarters.

He is the 37th Police Commissioner. He took over for CP Edward Egbuka, who had been assigned to zone 14 in Katsina and elevated to the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Other senior officers welcomed the CP and led him into his office, where he engaged them in an engaging discussion.

Soon after, in an interview with Newsmen, CP Hakeem Yusuf pledged to increase community involvement and create effective synergy with sister security organizations in order to guarantee Kogi state had sufficient security.

“You are all aware that the election in 2023 is coming up and that there are numerous political activities taking place across the nation. I want to call on the populace to work with us to offer effective policing.”
He issued a warning against thuggery and crimes in general, adding that “a new sheriff is in town” and “those with criminal purposes should stay away.”
