Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has discussed her relationship with her ex-husband Olakunle “Abounce” Fawole for the first time.
Yvonne admitted that her ex-husband neglected their 4-year-old boy in an interview on Mercy’s Menu, which was presented by Mercy Johnson-Okojie, a colleague.
Before she made the choice to get married to Olakunle, they were best friends for many years.
Jegede admitted that the marriage was free from any form of abuse.
Regarding his absence, Jegede claimed that the only time he saw his child was after she had forewarned him that his name would be removed from the child’s birth certificate if he did not show up.
We don’t talk, the woman remarked. He does nothing—he doesn’t call, he doesn’t stop by, he doesn’t do anything.
“I don’t know what may break up a friendship because, prior to being married, we had a fantastic, strong friendship.
She said, switching to pidgin, “I think I still look at that friendship and believe this thing we dey experience now, we no suppose to, at least that friendship we get supposed to cover up for somethings.”
“Even the first time he came over, when he officially acknowledged that I had given birth to him, I gave him an ultimatum that if he didn’t come, I would take away his last name once my child was five.
“Because I have to include Jegede-Fawole because I know that as I suffer, America will give birth to the pig.”
“I struggle, I tell America that my little brother needs a new passport,” the speaker said.
I put a compound name, Jegede-Fawole, because I said, “I say as long as na alone me carry this burden emotionally, financially, otherwise, I’m going to put my name with his surname.”
I have your gift, yet you don’t seem to care.
“You see, one thing I most dreaded is for my child to ask me where my father is when he wakes up one day, and it has started occurring,” the author said.
