Babagana Zulum, the governor of the state, has expressed sympathy to the UN and all local humanitarian organizations over the assassination of a humanitarian assistance worker by an unruly soldier on Thursday in Damboa.
Zulum expressed his astonishment and sadness over the incident that claimed the lives of two people and injured another in Damboa on Thursday in a statement he personally signed and released on Friday in Maiduguri.
My condolences go out to Mrs. Alem Muluseta’s family, her coworkers at Medicine de Monde (DM), the entire humanitarian community, and the United Nations, all of whom consistently make significant sacrifices to help our people.
Also receiving my condolences are the families of the brave troops who died while attempting to stop the crime.
He said the act was regrettable and might not be unrelated to the soldier who was involved’s mental health.
He promised that the administration of Borno State would support the injured UN personnel so that they could recuperate completely.
“Until he heals, we’ll do everything we can to help him obtain what he needs.
The military is looking into what happened, and I want to reassure our allies and the public that this was an isolated incident.
“We continue to have faith that our military and other security organizations are dedicated to preserving order and protecting people’s lives and property in Borno state.”
Zulum continued, “We will keep collaborating with the military and other partners to promote mental health programs in the theater.
