Ten criminal suspects recently detained for offenses such criminal conspiracy and kidnapping, cult membership and armed robbery, aiding and abetting kidnapping and culpable homicide were paraded by the Kwara State Police Command on Thursday.
The state Police commissioner, Paul Odama, spoke while parroting the suspects and said that community members, watchdog organizations, and hunters in the state had all contributed to the arrest by the command.
The command displayed one defendant, Umaru Mohammed “male,” age 35, for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.
“On October 24, 2022, at around 1100 hours, Ibrahim Umar, a “male,” of Ijan Otun Via Oro in the Irepodun LGA of Kwara State, sent his two sons Yusuf and Umaru on a mission to a neighbouring hamlet along the Road. Armed men attacked them and kidnapped them. Shortly after the boys were abducted, the victim’s father received a call demanding N30 million.
The Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Vigilante, and hunters were sent into the area’s bushes as soon as the information reached the Command in order to potentially search for, rescue, and apprehend the culprits.
The teams’ efforts were successful in saving the two victims without any injuries, and one of the culprits was also apprehended. He admitted to the crime when questioned. The pursuit of the remaining suspects is ongoing. The moment the inquiry is over, the suspect will be charged in court.
Additionally, Lukman Musa, a “guy,” age 25, and Victor Olorunmayese, a “men,” age 30, were paraded for armed robbery, cult participation, and criminal conspiracy.
One live cartridge was reportedly found from them, according to the Police command.

FACTS: On October 27, 2022, at approximately 1430 hours, Lawal Abubakar, a “male” from Shao Junction, reported a kidnapping to the command through the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. He said that on October 22, 2022, at approximately 1200 hours, Talatu Goma, “f,” left the house to sell cheese, and as she was on her way, two young men with dangerous weapons came out of the bush and forcibly abducted the girl According to the information, two more males on a motorcycle arrived while the victims were still in the jungle and brought them to a separate area.
One Sanni Sule, a “guy,” was apprehended after the kidnappers’ two phone numbers were tracked. He identified Abdulsalam Kuta as one of his collaborators during questioning. The suspects were recognized by the victim as her kidnappers during an identification parade. The Command is making every effort to apprehend one Laagi “guy” and another gang member. Suspects would face legal charges.
