Jeff Bezos, an American investor and the Executive Chairman of Amazon, has given philanthropic organizations $123 million to help the country’s homeless population.

According to Bloomberg, Bezos said on Tuesday through Instagram that he just gave 40 grants as part of his Bezos Day 1 Families Fund project, which he started in 2018.

The assistance is a part of a $2 billion commitment to fight homelessness overall.

In a recent, exclusive interview with CNN, the billionaire declared his intention to donate a significant percentage of his $124 billion fortune during his lifetime.

He said that in addition to assisting those who can bring humanity together in the face of severe social and political conflicts, the majority of his riches would be donated to charity.

The billionaire’s plans to give away the majority of his wealth were initially announced at that time.

In the meantime, Bezos has already come under fire from detractors for refusing to sign the Giving Pledge, a commitment made by hundreds of the world’s wealthiest individuals to devote the bulk of their wealth to charity organizations.

Bezos went above and above the Giving Pledge, saying that the key to donating his fortune was “figuring out how to do it in a levered fashion.”

“It’s not simple. Amazon was not simple to build. It required a lot of hard work, a group of extremely intelligent and dedicated teammates, and I’m discovering — and I believe Lauren is discovering the same thing — that charity and philanthropy are very similar,” he said.

There are many ways you may, in my opinion, do things that are ineffective, he continued. Therefore, careful consideration is required, as well as the presence of outstanding team members.

The Courage & Civility Award, which comes with a $100 million gift to Dolly Parton to employ for her charitable endeavors, was given to Parton by Bezos and his partner, Lauren Sánchez, last week. This achievement also garnered news.

Similar awards were given to climate activist and CNN contributor Van Jones as well as chef Jose Andrés, who used some of the money to prepare meals for Ukrainians.

After Bezos’ interview with CNN, his ex-wife, Mackenzie Scott, disclosed that she was giving an additional $2 billion to numerous charities. In less than a year, Scott has donated nearly $4 billion to 465 organizations.
