In Oyo state, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has succeeded in getting 13 suspects convicted of cybercrimes.
The suspects were picked up at various locations throughout the state and were brought before Justices Olusola Adetujoye and Bayo Taiwo of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan.
Twelve of the defendants were tried before Justice Adetujoye on individual counts, and one was tried before Justice Taiwo.
They all entered a “guilty” plea to the accusations brought against them by the anti-graft agency at their arraignments.
As a result, the prosecution’s attorneys, Oyelakin Oyediran, Sanusi Galadanchi, Samsudeen Bashir, and Mabas Mabur, reviewed the case’s facts and urged the courts to find the defendants guilty and impose the appropriate punishment.
“The courts ruled that the prisoners restitute their various victims and forfeit all assets recovered from them to the Federal Government of Nigeria,” according to a statement by the head of media and publicity, Wilson Uwujaren.
