……Victims recovered at Amakohia Ubi Village as security operatives intensify efforts to apprehend those behind the abduction.

Twenty prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who were abducted in Imo State have been rescued following sustained search-and-rescue operations by security operatives.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, the victims were successfully recovered at Amakohia Ubi Village in Imo State, where security operatives intensified efforts to locate them and secure their safe return.

The rescue followed coordinated operations involving the Police and sister security agencies in response to the abduction. The agencies worked together to trace the victims and ensure that they were recovered safely.

The development brings relief to the families and loved ones of the prospective corps members, whose whereabouts had raised concerns following their abduction.

Following their rescue, the victims were taken for medical assessment and necessary care to ascertain their physical condition and provide appropriate assistance after their ordeal.

The Force said security operatives have continued efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the individuals responsible for the abduction.

Investigations are also ongoing to determine the roles of persons who may have been involved in the incident, while efforts are being sustained to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them before the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

The rescue operation underscores the continued efforts by security agencies to respond to incidents involving the abduction of citizens and ensure the safe recovery of victims.

The Nigeria Police Force said its personnel, in collaboration with sister security agencies, remain committed to protecting lives and property and responding to security threats across the country.

The Force also appealed to members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing criminal activities, locating victims and apprehending persons involved in acts of criminality.

For the rescued prospective corps members, their recovery marks the end of the immediate ordeal, while attention is now focused on their wellbeing and the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding their abduction.

Security operatives are expected to sustain the search for the perpetrators until all those found culpable are apprehended and brought to justice.
