In Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP on Wednesday denounced Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidate for governor, over remarks he made that implied he might abandon Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s bid for the vice presidency.
Omo-Agege lacks the authority to block Okowa’s bid for vice president, according to a statement from Chief Emman Amgbaduba, chairman of the PDP Campaign Council in Delta’s media and publicity committee.
Omo-verbal Agege’s attacks on Okowa, according to Amgbaduba, the state’s commissioner for oil and gas, were the last gasp of a dying horse, and the PDP will remove him from politics in 2023.
He referred to the DSP’s suggestion of Governor Okowa’s third term agenda as numb and described it as cunning propagandizing by the APC governorship candidate.
We have seen Omo-Agege brag about putting an end to Okowa’s vice presidential aspirations and accuse him of having third term aspirations.
“First off, Okowa has no such agenda because the PDP already has a highly regarded candidate for governor in Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, speaker of the state assembly.
“Instead of telling Deltans about his plans for the state’s development, Omo-Agege goes around bragging about how he will put an end to Okowa’s desire to become vice president.
Let me make it obvious to him that the PDP, with the support of the people, will teach him a political lesson in 2023. “Last I checked, Okowa isn’t on the ballot with him for the Delta guber race.
Amgbaduba stated, “We will assist him in retiring to his Orogun village where he funneled the small initiatives and institutions he was able to draw to his Senatorial District.
He asserted that Omo-Agege couldn’t turn around and accuse Okowa of betraying Southern Nigeria after supporting Senate President Ahmed Lawan for president.
“Okowa didn’t betray anyone. The party opened up its ticket, and a Northerner named Atiku Abubakar won it. According to the constitution, a vice presidential candidate must come from the South, and the candidate and the party determined that Okowa was deserving after thorough consideration.
He said: “He is busy lying to Deltans about a supposed betrayal that never existed, rather than rejoice with Okowa and set political views aside to ensure that a Deltan emerged Vice-President in 2023.
In order to save, reset, and rebuild the country from the deep valley the APC had lead it into, he urged party supporters and Deltans to ignore Omo-phantom Agege’s lies.
