Governor of Ekiti State Biodun Oyebanji has sent the names of 21 nominees for commissioner to the state House of Assembly for approval and screening.
Four former commissioners and two former deputy Assembly speakers who worked for the state’s most recent administration are listed.
The governor said that by sending the list, he intended to enlarge the State Executive Council (SEC) and appoint commissioners to help with service delivery to the state’s residents.
The screening will begin on Monday, July 3, 2023, when the nominees are anticipated to come before the legislators, according to information provided by the speaker of the House, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, who read the communication from the governor dated June 26 to the parliamentarians during the House plenary.
In order to prepare for the screening, Aribasoye instructed the clerk of the Assembly to inform the nominees that the House needs 30 copies of their curriculum vitae (CVs) by Friday, June 30, 2023.
A maximum of three nominees will be questioned each day until the list was exhausted, according to the speaker who made clear that the legislators intended to do a thorough job.
Ado, Efon, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ido/Osi, and Ayekire local government areas each have two commissioner nominations on the list that the speaker has read, while nine other councils each have one.
