Babatunji Wusu –
N8 billion has been set aside by the Kano State Government to build three “mega primary schools” throughout the state.
Governor Abba Yusuf claimed that the schools would have all the amenities needed to provide a suitable learning environment for children from low-income families, ensuring they had a solid foundation in education for a prosperous future.
The governor announced that the schools would be located in each senatorial district and would provide cutting-edge instructional resources for high-quality instruction at the local level.
He added that N6 billion had been allocated for primary school renovations.
In a similar spirit, he declared that 17 of the 26 Special Institutions that former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso established have been fully renovated after government approval.
“The days of having students learn on the ground are gone.
We will keep focusing on providing the necessities for learning so that our young students can experience a positive environment for instruction and learning.
In addition, we paid N150 million for Maitama Sule University’s new environmental and climate department and N500 million for the building of a hostel at Aliko University Wudil.
“New courses at Wudil and Yusuf Maitama Sule University were funded by nearly N500 million from the State Polytechnic and Management Institution.
The nearly N100 million that was paid for the registration of Kano Islamic Legal Studies’ new courses also helped other institutions.
He stated, “To enable them to face their studies, about 93% of the tuition fees of 501 Masters students in India and other foreign countries were settled, along with their four-month maintenance allowances.”
The state governor added that the government had paid N700 million in registration fees for Kano State students attending Bayero University in Kano, as well as N1.5 billion in exam fees for state secondary school students administered by the National Examination Council (NEC) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
