A 50-year-old abduction victim has been freed by Benue State police in Tine Nine, Zaki Biam, in the Ukum Local Government Area of the state.

This was revealed to media in Makurdi on Tuesday by SP Felix Nomiyugh, the commander of Operation Zenda, a combined operation in the state.

The victim was eventually transferred to the General Hospital, Zaki-Biam, where he was relieved, according to the commander, who added that his troops had found the man in a coma last Saturday after his kidnappers had abandoned him.

Nomiyugh added that he had accomplished a great deal since taking office on November 1, 2023, particularly in terms of freeing several victims who had been kidnapped.

He declared that he had started a policy of discipline among the police under his supervision and pledged to strive harder towards a society free of crime.

He said, “Last Saturday, at Tine Nine in Zaki Biam, headquarters of Ukum LGA, our officers recovered a 50-year-old man who happens to be a kidnap victim. He was abandoned by his assailants and was in a coma.

“Luckily, he was taken to the General Hospital in Zaki Biam where he regained consciousness.
