A victim of internet fraud, British national Christine Brown, has received $26,000 back thanks to the EFCC.

The victim received the money on Monday from the Benin Zonal Command, according to a statement from EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren in Abuja.

He claimed that the 70-year-old had petitioned the Commission after falling victim to an online scammer who used a romance sc#m to deceive him.

The Briton was defrauded of her life savings by an online fraudster posing as an American entertainer online after she became emotionally linked with him, the commission claimed in a statement on August 29th, 2023.

On August 28th, Ms. Brown received a check for $26,000 from the commission’s Benin Zonal Command.

According to the statement, “Brown expressed gratitude to the Commission for its efforts, which, in her words, have provided some consolation to her after losing her life’s savings to fraudsters.”
