Lagos State Taskforce has impounded 128 commercial motorcycles, commonly known as “Okada,” for operating unlawfully in restricted areas of the state. The Chairman of the Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, announced this in a statement released on Sunday by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Gbadeyan Abdulraheem.

The motorcycles were seized from locations including Sabo Ikorodu, Berger, and Ikotun, as part of efforts to enforce the ban on commercial motorcycles in designated restricted zones. Akerele reaffirmed the Taskforce’s firm position against illegal motorcycle operations, emphasizing that both riders and passengers caught violating the ban would face prosecution.

“Passengers on Okada are as culpable as the riders. If apprehended, they will face the full force of the law alongside the riders,” Akerele stated. He further affirmed that the Taskforce is dedicated to maintaining safe and motorable roads in Lagos.

Residents of the state are urged to comply with the regulations, which are designed to safeguard the lives and property of all citizens. The 128 impounded motorcycles will be forfeited to the Lagos State Government through the court.
