Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has suffered a left thigh injury, raising concerns about his availability for upcoming matches, including the crucial clash against city rivals AC Milan on 31 October.

The Serie A leaders confirmed the injury on their official website following their UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday. The club stated that Martinez “underwent clinical and diagnostic tests at the Istituto Humanitas in Rozzano”.

According to Italian media reports, the Lautaro Martinez injury could keep the Argentine forward out of action for around a month. Such an absence would be a setback for Inter Milan as they look to maintain their position at the top of the Italian league.

The potential recovery period could also rule Martinez out of the highly anticipated Milan derby against AC Milan on 31 October. The match is an important fixture for both sides as they compete for local bragging rights and valuable league points.

Martinez had made an impressive start to the season, recording seven goal contributions in seven matches and helping Inter Milan reach the top of the domestic standings.

The injury news also came just a day after the striker scored twice in Inter’s Champions League encounter against Club Brugge. His recent performances have made him a key figure in the team’s attack, increasing the importance of his recovery.

Inter Milan have not confirmed how long Martinez will be sidelined. Further medical updates are expected to clarify his recovery timeline and whether he can return in time for the derby.

The Lautaro Martinez injury will therefore be closely monitored by supporters as Inter prepare for a demanding run of fixtures across domestic and European competitions.
