Nigerian actress Kemi Afolabi has condemned the celebration of other people’s suffering and deaths, describing such reactions as “diabolical” in an Instagram post on Friday.

Kemi Afolabi made the comments while expressing anger at people who rejoice over the misfortunes of others. She also reminded her followers that death is inevitable.

“We all are gonna bite the dust. Your jubilation over another’s afflictions or death is diabolical,” she wrote.

The actress’s comments come amid her ongoing battle with lupus, an incurable autoimmune disease that can damage the body’s tissues and organs.

In August, Afolabi revealed that she had undergone multiple surgeries in 2026 because of a lupus flare.

Lupus occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues. The disease can affect different parts of the body, including the skin, joints, kidneys and other organs.

The severity of the condition varies from person to person. Some patients experience periods when symptoms worsen, known as flares.

Afolabi’s latest statement focuses on how people respond to the suffering or death of others. However, she did not identify anyone in the quoted post or specify the incident that prompted her comments.

The actress has continued to share updates about her health journey with her followers.

Her remarks have drawn attention to the reactions people express when others face serious illnesses or personal difficulties.
