Liberia have invited Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Derrick Daddy Julu for the first time ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Cape Verde.
The Liberia invite Derrick Daddy Julu decision follows the goalkeeper’s recent form in Nigeria’s domestic league. Julu has kept three clean sheets in four appearances for Niger Tornadoes this month.
The Lone Star will face Cape Verde in two crucial qualifying matches as they seek their first points in the campaign.
Liberia will travel to Praia for the third round of qualifiers on Friday, 13 November 2026. They will then host Cape Verde in Monrovia on Tuesday, 17 November.
The invitation marks Julu’s first call-up to the Liberia national team. His recent performances for Niger Tornadoes have earned him an opportunity to compete for a place in the national side.
However, Liberia face pressure to improve their results after losing their opening two matches in the qualifying campaign.
They began with a 3-1 away defeat against Rwanda before losing 1-0 at home to Mali. The two results left the West African side without a point from their first two fixtures.
The upcoming matches against Cape Verde will give Liberia another opportunity to get their campaign back on track.
Julu will hope to maintain his recent form if he features in either match. His three clean sheets in four appearances provide a record of his performances ahead of the international fixtures.
Liberia must now prepare for the two encounters as they continue their bid to qualify for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
